Cara Louwman (The Netherlands, 1967) is a conceptual photographer, specialized in creating images that tells a story. Inspired by her personal memories and influenced by different cultures, like India and Austria where she has lived, she uses conceptual photography as a mean to stage an idea. Cara's photographs are characterized by the use of multiple layers. Sometimes literally, as in her photo collages. With the computer she creates images which are other than a direct representation of what was in front of the lens. In short, her work can be characterized as painting with photography.
In July 2017, she has completed her study 'Photographic design' at the University of Applied Photography (Fotovakschool). Cara's fine-art photo collages have won multiple awards at PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris (2nd place) and IPA International Photography Award (Honorable Mention). Further, her photographs have been exhibited at the ZomerExpo in Museum de Fundatie (May-August 2017), Loods6 (July 2017) and Kamp Amersfoort (from April 2015 onwards).
